Wife, daughter of bank employee killed in Kanpur

Some unidentified persons killed the wife and daughter of a bank employee and looted cash and jewellery worth over Rs3 lakh from their residence at Naubasta area here, police said.

Ram Murari Gupta, a cashier with Reserve Bank of India, returned home from work yesterday evening and found his wife Manju and daughter Chetna murdered with their hands and legs tied, they said.

The almirah was found to be open with the cash and jewellery missing, they said.

Police suspect the involvement of close family members in the incident.

Meanwhile, the bodies have been sent for a postmortem and an investigation is on to nab the culprits.
