The Ellisbridge police are looking for Jhala, a resident of Rajiv Park, Jankinagar. On Monday, he was booked for stabbing and looting his friend Himanshu Soni, a resident of Sunita society in Ambawadi.
According to Soni, Jhala, along with two others, robbed him of jewellery worth Rs20 lakh on the pretext of a business deal with a member of parliament. However, a day after the incident, police investigations revealed some surprising details about Jhala's past. His father Pratapsinh Jhala was a leader of the Rajput community and is a highly respected man. He was also very close to Shankarsinh Vaghela in his heydays.
"Over the years, Jhala ventured into business and started an Osho Institute and yoga classes known as Dynamic Yoga. Through his ventures, he came into contact with many well-known businessmen and affluent people," sources said.
Ironically, according to police, Jhala was himself reportedly cheated by one of his bosom friends identified as Anirudhsinh, a resident of Chirai village in Kutch district. They said that in 2002, Anirudh took Jhala to Dubai where he was asked to invest Rs1 crore with an assurance that the amount will be doubled in a year.
However, he lost the deposited amount. Not only that, Jhala had earlier lost nearly Rs5 crore after a business plan with Anirudh failed to take off. " We will be able to uncover the truth only after Jhala is apprehended,” said Ellisbridge police inspector BK Purohit.
