Valuables worth Rs8 lakh burgled in TN

Gold and silver ornaments and cash valued at around Rs8 lakh have been burgled from a closed house in nearby Tirupur, police said today.

The occupants of the house had come here to attend a function and when they reached the house around midnight last night, they found the door broken open and things, including those stored in an almirah, were strewn around, police said.

Gold ornaments weighing 47 sovereigns, 4kg of silver articles and Rs1 lakh in cash were looted from the house, they said.
