With majority of the nine persons arrested in connection with a railway recruitment examination hailing from Bihar or West Bengal, the Uttar Pradesh police has sought the help of their counterparts in the two states to facilitate their probe.

"As majority of the persons arrested so far in RRB recruitment scam, hail either from Bihar or West Bengal indicating towards an inter-state racket, assistance of the local police is being sought by the state Special Task Force (STF) to bust the gang," a senior STF officer told PTI.

Five persons were arrested by STF on Sunday, who were selling question papers to aspirants of Hazratganj area, of which four hailed from Bihar.

Similarly, four more were caught for appearing in the examination on behalf of other examinees the same day.

"Of these four, one hailed from Bihar and another from West Bengal," the officer said.

The STF suspects that the gang may be linked to a railway TTE Bedilal, who was terminated from the service after being arrested in the RRB recruitment scam earlier this year.

Lal is contesting assembly by-polls from Kolasala seat of Varanasi.
