UP polls: More unaccounted cash recovered

As part of the drive to check flow of illegal money during the assembly election, the Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday recovered nearly Rs73 lakh in the state.

"A total of Rs72.7 lakh unaccounted cash was recovered from different parts in the state. Of this, Rs35 lakh were found in Noida," Additional Director General of Police Subesh Kumar Singh told reporters here.

Similarly, Rs19.5 lakh were recovered from different places in Kanpur and Rs six lakh from Etawah, he said.

Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha said so far unaccounted cash of Rs22.53 crore had been recovered from different places in Uttar Pradesh.

He said as many as 164 FIRs relating to violation of the model code of conduct were lodged across the state.
