Australia today said it is trying to rebuild the faith of Indian students after a spate of attacks targeting the community and claimed that parents here are now "less apprehensive" about sending their children to that country.

Australian high commissioner to India Peter Varghese said the government admitted that the attacks against Indian students have left a "deep scar" on their minds.

"But we are trying our best to rebuild the faith," Varghese said, adding that the government has come up with various initiatives to make students from other countries pursuing education in Australia feel better.

Varghese said the Australian government is making every effort to assure safety and quality education at the same time. "Parents are less apprehensive about sending their children to Australia now," he said.
