Three persons were injured following communal clashes between groups of two communities who pelted stones at each other in sensitive Dariyapur area of the city this evening, police said.

The incident took place after an altercation between some people of the two communities over kite-flying, they said.

"Some tear gas shells and light baton charging was done to disperse the crowd belonging to both the communities," assistant commissioner of police MV Mehta told Press Trust of India.

"The situation was under control now," Mehta said, adding that city crime branch and officers of the special operations group (SOG) have been deployed in the area to suppress any further attempt of violence.
