A senior functionary of a leading telecom company has come under the radar of investigators for allegedly tipping off arrested IAS officer Ravi Inder Singh about his phones being tapped by the security agencies.

The deputy general manager with a top mobile company, who is responsible for dealing with government agencies, had allegedly informed Singh, who was accused of leaking information from home ministry, that his phone is being tapped, alerting him to be careful while making calls.

"We will soon call him for questioning as this was an incident of criminal conspiracy to subvert an ongoing probe into a sensitive matter," an official said.

Home ministry officials said the probe by the special cell of Delhi police into the incident was going in the right direction but if investigation indicates wider ramification of the case, the probe could be handed over to CBI.

The 1994 batch West Bengal cadre officer, posted as a director in the Union home ministry, was today remanded in police custody for six days by a Delhi court.

Special judge Sangeeta Dhingra Sehgal also sent his co-accused and Kolkata-based businessman Vineet Kumar, who was allegedly acting as a broker on behalf of Singh, to six days police custody.
