Swine flu cases rise to 31 in J&K

With two army personnel testing positive for swine flu here today, the number of such cases across the state has risen to 31.

Jammu and Kashmir health department officials said that 18 cases have tested positive for the influenza in Jammu province and 13 have been reported from Kashmir valley.

Four reports were received from National Institute of Communical Diseases, New Delhi in Jammu and Srinagar swine flu centres and two army men were positive for flu in Jammu today, they said.

Both of them have been admitted to military hospital and have been put on Tamiflu. Their condition is stable, they added.

All the patients who are tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir have responded well to Tamiflu and they were improving after receiving treatment, they said.

As many as 162 samples were sent to NICD New Delhi from Jammu and Kashmir, they said, adding only 31 have so far been found positive.

Dr RS Charak, who has been appointed as a nodal officer for dealing with swine flu in the state said that the government has enough stocks of medicines to treat the deadly
virus.
