Students vandalise aviation academy, want refund of fees

Say the air-hostess training institute gave them false promises and later duped them.

Students of Udaan Aviation Academy in Surat created ruckus and vandalized the office on Monday after the institute refused to provide them promised jobs and refund their fees. The students broke window panes and argued with academy authorities, but they were refused refund of the fees.The owner of the academy Rishab Dev has been absconding after the incident.

According to information, students said that the institute had duped them. They were guaranteed jobs in the aviation sector at the time of payment of fees. But even after the completion of the course, none of the students were offered any jobs.

About 30 students of Udaan Aviation Academy gathered at academy's main office at 3rd floor, Savera Complex on Monday morning and demanded their fees back. The authorities said that they cannot meet the owner nor would they get the refund of their fees. The students started damaging the property.

On learning about the incident, Dev's friend, Tomar reached the academy premises and asked the students to leave the place without further argument. Police reached the place and later took Tomar with them.

"The fee for the air-hostess training course was Rs1.32 lakh and more than 100 students from all over South Gujarat enrolled themselves for these courses and got cheated.

We want our money back or want jobs, but the academy staff is not saying anything. The authorities want us to take Rs12,000 and forget everything," Nita Patel, said a student of the academy.

"I paid Rs1.32 lakh as fees in the academy, while they made me pay Rs55,000 more, the second time. All the money was I paid for my child's admission fee was borrowed on heavy interest rates. I invested the money after the institute promised a bright future for my girl in the aviation

sector. Her career is ruined now. We want our money back," said Gordan Hirpara, a tensed parent.
