Special CBI court reserves judgement in fourth Nithari rape and murder case

A special CBI court in New Delhi has reserved judgement in the case of the rape and murder of 12-year-old Deepali, whose body parts were found in a drain in Nithari in 2006.

A special CBI court in New Delhi has reserved judgement in the case of the rape and murder of 12-year-old Deepali, whose body parts were found in a drain in Nithari in 2006.

Special CBI judge AK Singh conclude hearings in the case last evening and fixed December 20 for  pronouncement of the judgement.

Surinder Koli (38), named as the main accused in the chargesheet filed by the CBI in connection with the case, was awarded death sentence by the special court in May this year for the rape and murder of teenager Rachna.

He has also been held guilty of rape and murder of 14-year-old Rimpa Haldar and 8-year-old Aarti by the special court.

Deepaliwas missing since June 2006 and her name was mentioned in the complaint lodged in December that year about the children missing from the area. Her mother had identified her daughter through her footwear.

A total of 19 cases were filed in connection with the rape and murder of children and a young woman in Nithari in 2006 and the CBI filed chargesheets in 16 cases. Three cases were closed without trial due to lack of evidence.
