Senior RJD leader, Akhilesh Singh today resigned from the primary membership of the party and said that he would soon join the Congress.
"I have seen both Kushashan Babu (Lalu Prasad) and Sushshan Babu (Nitish kumar)who were out to stiffle the voice of forward castes and I decided to leave the RJD and join the Congress party which gives due respect to political leaders irrespective of caste and creed," the former union minister told reporters.
Singh said that he had petitioned to AICC President Sonia Gandhi to induct him and thousands of his supporters into the party fold ahead of the assembly election so that he (Singh) could play a pivotal role in ensuring the victory of Congress nominees in the districts of Gaya, Jehanabad , Arwal and Bhojpur districts.
Welcoming the statement of Singh, in-charge of the media cell of the Congress, Premchandra Mishra said that he would soon be inducted into the Congress.
