Seven infiltration bids have taken place along the international border on the Jammu frontier, and all of them have been foiled as claimed by the BSF.
Maintaining that the security situation along the Indo-Pak border was well under control, the Border Security Force (BSF) has launched Winter Border Management Strategy (WBMS) along the border to foil cross-border infiltration.
"Security situation is well under control, and adequate measures as per the requirement have been put in place," inspector general (IG), BSF, Jammu Frontier, AK Sarolia told reporters here today on the sidelines of wreath-laying ceremony of Jawan Mukesh Chander Sharma, who died in a militant attack on the forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district yesterday.
Replying to a volley of questions on the counter infiltration measures, the IG said, "Winter Border Management strategy (WBMS) has been put in place along the international border. It addresses various situations like dealing with fog, ambushes, area dominations and other measures."
Saroli also said that the deployment along the border has been strengthened.
"We have strengthened the deployment. It is been done routinely. Where we feel there is need for more forces, it is being addressed to on an urgent basis", he said.
He said that seven infiltration bids have taken place along the international border on the Jammu frontier, and all of them have been foiled.
Saroli, along with top officers including the deputy inspector of police and commandants, laid wreaths on the body of Sharma at Frontier Headquarters before the body was sent to his native place Mathura in Uttar Pradesh for last rites.
