RSS for environment protection in India

Stressing on the need for special care to control pollution and maintain ecological balance, RSS today called upon the people to contribute to the awareness campaign and collaborate with various initiatives for environment protection in India.
    
In a resolution adopted at its three-day executive meeting which concluded here this afternoon, the RSS appealed to the central and state governments to take appropriate measures for preservation and development of water resources in the country and conserve soil by restoration of natural and organic farming through the use of organic manure. It suggested making special plans for preservation of ecology of Himalayas and other mountain ranges, besides developing various alternative energy sources.
     
RSS media chief Bhiyaji Joshi told the media that stringent measurs were required to be taken against industries polluting water and air, besides taking steps to put an end to the pollution in all the rivers like the Ganga and the Yamuna.
     
Efforts should also be made to ensure continuous flow of Ganga while implementing any project and urged the governments to adopt policy based on community participation on issues related to environment and development keeping in mind the social and cultural values.
   
''No unjust and inappropriate international treaty on such issue should be accepted,'' he added.
