Rashtriya Janata Dal(RJD) today threatned to file a defamation case against Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi for launching a 'vilification campaign' against its president Lalu Prasad to gain political mileage.

RJD spokespersons, Shakeel Ahmed Khan and Ramkirpal Yadav, claimed that the slogan attributed by Modi to Prasad to
wipe out 'Bhura Bal' (Bhumihar, Rajput and Brahmins) had never
been made by him.

''We will file a defamation case against Modi for making derogatory remarks against the party president,'' they told reporters here.

Khan and Yadav also denied that Prasad had made the statement that no leader from a forward caste could dream of
becoming the chief minister of Bihar.

They stuck to their point in the face of media persons' insistence that Prasad had indeed made such a statement at a programme at the party office here on Sunday in which  scribes were present.

''The JD(U)-BJP combine was spreading a canard against the the RJD-LJP combine seeing that a stong wave was sweeping in its favour,'' they claimed.

''In a democracy anyone could become the chief minister --- whether forward or backward or persons coming from dalit society having the support of the people. RJD believes in this
theory,'' the two leaders said adding if the RJD-LJP alliance
was voted to power it would provide ten per cent reservation to the poor among the forwards.

The RJD leaders charged Nitish Kumar with dividing the society on caste and creed lines and failing to counter the Naxal meance.

The D Bandhopadhyaya comission report on land reform
would not be implemented by the RJD-LJP as it would divide the society, they added.
