"Maloom hai mera baap kon hai," was the statement used by a beverage advertisement that aptly captured our habit of trying to escape situations by throwing around names.

Perhaps inspired by the same, an RTO officer's son tried a similar trick after overtaking a car from the wrong side. The unlucky lad soon found himself facing the music for he tried using the beverage advertisement line on Joint Commissioner of Police, Zone I, Satish Sharma.

Needless to say, Sharma wasn't amused and promptly got him booked for rash driving thus showing the youth that the law doesn't give a care about who your father is. The incident happened at 11 in the morning when Divya Joshi, 23, overtook Sharma's car from the wrong side. Not only that he was also speeding when the incident happened.

"Sharma had come to the Satellite police station for a routine inspection and was leaving after the same when the incident happened," a police source said. Sharma soon stopped the youth and asked for his licence. "I am an RTO officer's son and why are you asking for my licence," Joshi told Sharma.

Sources also said that the Fazer bike did not have a number plate in the front and the one on the back was faulty. Sources further said that Joshi, unaware that Sharma was a cop, soon began arguing with him. Sharma got him booked for rash driving.

Sources said that often traffic offenders, particularly those related to influential people, try to escape the police by talking of their connections. It should be noted that the police had been keeping an eye on bikers for the last few days to prevent them from performing stunts on roads. Following the biker gang menace, the police upped patrolling and have so far booked several people for rash driving.
