The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going on a counter-offensive to take on the blitzkrieg of rallies and protests unleashed by the opposition parties.

The party on Thursday decided to take to the people its three-year development works  and reach at least 50 lakh households in an effort to explain to the people what the party government has achieved in comparison with its predecessors, The ambitious party campaign has been christened, Jana Jagarana Abhiyan.
Addressing the media after a party executive meeting, BJP spokesman CT Ravi said, “The party has to work like a bridge between the people and the government. Though our party has done a lot of developmental works, our achievements are yet to reach the people because of false allegations by the opposition. We have now decided to hold public awareness campaigns across the state.” “Despite baseless and reckless allegations hurled against BJP by opposition parties, people have supported it in all the elections held so far.”

“We will focus on issues like the party, organisation, administration and developmental works. The upcoming state-level BJP executive meeting on May 16 and 17 at Bijapur will finalise the the dates for the campaign. We will give a fitting reply to the opposition parties. We will explain to the people of the state what we have done,” Ravi said. The BJP is set to complete three years in office on May 30.

The JD(S) is organising anti-corruption rallies targeting the BJP government across the state from Friday and the Congress has plans to submit a memorandum to governor HR  Bhardwaj on the same issue on May 9.

The JD(S), in an effort to label its “anti-corruption” rally as apolitical, has created a separate forum named “Jayaprakash Narain Janandolan Vedike - Karnataka” and made state unit spokesman YSV Datta its convenor.
