Monsoon woes continue in the city, with scenes of traffic jams and chaos on streets showing on the second consecutive day.

Ahmedabad witnessed an average of 3.13 inches of rain on Tuesday evening, with the Chakudiya Mahadev area in the east zone getting the highest, 6.13 inches.

While the whole city seemed flooded on Tuesday, eastern Ahmedabad was the worst-affected. Residential societies in Chakudiya Mahadev, Vastral, Khokhara, Isanpur and Ramol were submerged. With the drainage lines unable to live up to the task, water gushed into people's homes. "It is usual to have knee-deep water in this area. My concern though, is that sewage water might mix with drinking water and cause havoc," said Hansaben Pandya, a resident of Isanpur.

Commuters took to the dedicated BRTS lanes, as the regular roads were water-logged. "There is no point in stopping people from using BRTS lanes. With the roads flooded, no one will listen," said a traffic volunteer. A commuter, Raju Patel, said that using the BRTS route was the safest option, as this was the only part of the road that didn't have potholes and cave-ins yet!

The city got six more cave-ins, while six complaints were received about potholes on city roads. Four cave-ins occurred in the South Zone, while there was one in the Central and North Zone each.
Moreover, there were long queues on overbridges in the city, such as the Jashodanagar bridge, Shyamal bridge and Chandranagar bridge because of water logging on both ends.

The average rain fall in the city has touched 26.49 inches.
