Normal operation on the Jhir-Jhatwara section of northwestern railway was restored last night, 22 hours after the Delhi-bound Mandore Express derailed near Banshkov Railway station, 40 km from here, claiming six lives.

Fifteen coaches of the train, including five AC ones, 7 sleeper and three general compartments, derailed at 0130 hours yesterday after the train left the Pink City.

"The track was cleared last night at 2330 hrs, and all the diverted trains (following derailment) are now scheduled to pass through the section," an NWR spokesperson said today.

"Ahmedabad-Haridwar (9105) was the first train to pass from here at 2355 hrs last night," he said, adding that the railway had to divert thirty-four trains due to the disruption on the tracks.

Cranes and hydraulic machines were pressed into service to clear the track, and cut the railroads that had pierced into AC coaches of the train.
