AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi today advised newly elected young MLAs from Maharashtra and Haryana, who were given tickets from the Youth Congress quota, to work for strengthening the organisation, keeping the Aam Aadmi in focus in their work.

Gandhi also discussed the recent assembly election results in these states with the young MLAs. He also promised to make a visit of Maharashtra soon where he has plans to further strengthen the party's youth wing.

Four of the six Congress workers from the Youth Congress won their seats in Maharashtra while in Haryana one of the four could win.

In Maharashtra state, Youth Congress president Rajiv Satav, the national convener of Gandhi's dream project 'Aam Admi Ka Sipahi', Neelesh Parvekar, Yashomati Thakur and Prashant Thakur won from Kalamnuri, Yavatmal, Teosa and Panvel assembly constituencies. Gandhi had campaigned for all the four seats.

"Discussion took place about results in Maharashtra. Rahul ji has promised to visit the state soon saying he plans to further strengthen the party's youth wing in the state," Satav told reporters after meeting Gandhi.

He, however, avoided queries on whether they want participation of youths in the ministry saying, "it is for the leadership to decide".

Anil Dhantori, a Youth Congress Secretary, who became MLA for the first time from Haryana, said, "I thanked Rahul Gandhi for giving ticket to an ordinary youth like me. Rahul ji has directed me to connect with the common people."
