President Pratibha Patil visited Amul Dairy at Anand on Thursday, where she lauded the role played by six lakh women milk producers associated with milk cooperatives.
She was accorded a warm welcome by the people lining up along the route from Shastri ground to the Amul Dairy. She spent an hour at the dairy, which pioneered the white revolution in India.
Dairy authorities made a presentation to her, who visited milk procurement and processing units as well as butter and powder plants. Patil stated that the economic freedom of women would bring about economic and social equality in our society.
