Talking to mediapersons, deputy commissioner of police, zone 1, Rajiv Ranjan Bhagat said that a special team formed from each police stations, kept close watch on the posh localities and the parties organized therein.
However, these teams were asked to reach promptly on any tip-off or message to the police control room.
"These special teams had been mainly made to conduct raids on the suspected places in posh localities as well as to see that there is no misconduct by any commuter or party goers," a police source said.
The source also said that the teams were especially told to remain vigilant in areas like Vastrapur, Bodakdev, SG Highway, Drive-In Road, Prahaladnagar, Paldi and Satellite.
"Special teams were formed in Satellite, Ellisbridge, Vastrapur, Naranapura, Navrangpura, Ghatlodia and Sola police station areas," a police source said, adding that the teams worked in co-ordination with the traffic cops in these localities.
A meeting had been earlier organised between Bhagat and deputy commissioner of police, traffic department, MM Anarwala to work out the traffic related issues in the areas and if required, to take the help of these special teams.
Generally most of the parties, where booze is consumed, are normally organized in the posh flats and bungalows, due to which untoward incidents have been noticed in the past. "A fire broke out in a posh flat of Vastrapur, after an alleged booze party there last year," a police source said.
Two additional commissioners of police had been specially provided in the zone 1 area, under whose jurisdiction the posh localities fall. Apart from that, around 450 traffic cops had also been allotted to ensure smooth traffic in the city.
