Odhav minor gangraped after tiff

This may sound bizarre but it is true. A small altercation between two neighbours on Thursday morning in Rabari colony of Odhav area in the city resulted in the gangrape of a 16-year-old girl.

According to information, the girl had an argument with one Pooja Mohanty, her neighbour. A few minutes later, when she was alone at her home, Pooja and her mother entered her house and thrashed her.

After the incident, the girl tried to call her father but he did not respond. Then she went to call on her uncle, who lives nearby. On her way, near Odhav fire station, three youths came in an autorickshaw, dragged her and abducted her at knife-point.

The youths took her to an undisclosed location and raped her one by one, after making her unconscious. One of the youths, Dharmendra Mohanty, is Pooja’s cousin.

When the girl didn’t come back for a long time, her family members went to Odhav police station twice on Thursday evening to register a missing complaint. But the police refused to lodge the complaint.

On Friday morning, the accused dropped the girl in an unconscious state at the spot from where they had picked her up. Her family was informed, and her father called ‘108’ services. They took her to Civil Hospital for treatment. When she gained consciousness, she narrated the entire story. Subsequently, the police were informed.

Medical tests confirmed the gangrape. Odhav police have recorded her statement and have filed a case of gangrape and abduction against the trio.
