Now, AIADMK accuses Karunanidhi of land grabbing

Though many members of the erstwhile Karunanidhi cabinet and DMK MLAs have been arrested and imprisoned on charges of land grabbing, this is the first serious allegation being made against the octogenarian leader.

Now it is Karunanidhi’s turn to ‘face the music’ in a land grabbing charge.

“Former chief minister M Karunanidhi has encroached 780 sq ft of prime land behind his posh Gopalapuram residence in Chennai. We will take legal action once we complete the process of enquiry,” KP Munusamy, the local administration minister told the state assembly on Monday.

Though many members of the erstwhile Karunanidhi cabinet and DMK MLAs have been arrested and imprisoned on charges of land grabbing, this is the first serious allegation being made against the octogenarian leader by the AIADMK.

Karunanidhi and his second wife Dayalu Ammal ho stay in this palatial residence  have donated this house for setting up a hospital. “This house will be converted into a specialty hospital for the poor after our demise,” Karunanidhi had written in Murasoli, the DMK mouthpiece some time back.

Veerapandi arumugam, KN Nehru, NKKP Raja and K Ponmudi, former DMK ministers and three party MLAs have been arrested for land grabbing after the change of government in Tamil Nadu.

Sauresh Rajan, former tourism minister, could be arrested anytime in connection with land grabbing and kangaroo court. Daya Alagiri, son of union minister Alagiri and grandson of the DMK patriarch is also in the dock following charges of illegal quarrying in Madurai region.

The DMK leaders including MK Stalin and Alagiri allege that the AIADMK government has unleashed a ‘reign of terror and victimisation’ in the state to maul the opposition.
