Naxal-hit states need integrated action plan: Chhattisgarh CM

Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh today said Naxal-affected states should have an "integrated action plan" to tackle the Maoist menace.

"There are different governments in different states and all of them are dealing with the issue (Naxal) in their own way. An integrated action plan should be made and all of us should agree on one common point," he told reporters in New Delhi.

Singh is here to attend prime minister Manmohan Singh's meeting with the seven Naxal-affected states to chalk out a fresh strategy to curb Left-wing extremism.

Pointing out that such meetings help the states to discuss the issue together, Singh said all Naxal-affected states recognise the menace as the biggest security threat and the need to combat it.

The day-long meeting of the chief ministers of Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar will deliberate on the situation arising out of the recent Maoist violence and chalk out a strategy to curb Left-wing extremism, official sources said.
