Chief minister Narendra Modi on Saturday sought the cooperation of students in his "battle against terrorism, Naxalism, bombs, bullets and pistols".

Striking an aggressive posture against the forces engaged in such activities, he said, "If you have bullets, we have courage."

He was addressing a large gathering of students on the Saurashtra University campus here. He is here to take part in state-level celebrations of 64th Independence Day on Sunday.

He claimed that his government has brought peace to the state in the last 10 years, and spoke about his government's achievements in the fields of education, agriculture etc. He also took the opportunity to pay tributes to martyrs and freedom fighters who had laid down their lives for the sake of the nation.

The chief minister also dedicated two newly-built complexes of the university.

He challenged the Union government to compete with Gujarat in development process. He blasted those who opposed the state-level celebration of 64th Independence Day of the country being held in Rajkot this year.

Modi kicked off his day's programme in the city with a function related to his ambitious 'Vaanche Gujarat' project, held at Virani High School. He called the project a founding stone in the journey to progress as it is the era of knowledge.

While paying tributes to martyrs and freedom fighters, he did not miss a chance to allege that "some elements" were tinkering with the history of Indian Independence.

Modi also dedicated and laid foundation stone of works worth Rs 419.62 crore, including dedication of Awas Yojana and Praduman Park.

The CM, along with the state governor Dr Kamla, attended a 'Governor at Home' function where they met hundreds of invitees before they enjoyed 'Dhanya Dhara Saurashtra Ni', a programme introducing the culture of Saurashtra.
