A blood donation camp organised in parliament to mark the first anniversary of the Mumbai terror attack had virtually no takers, with only 17 of the 750 MPs turning up.
Worse, only eight were considered fit to donate. But for the 42 parliament staffers who volunteered, the camp would have been an even bigger failure.

With 61 MPs below the age of 39 in Lok Sabha alone, it was hoped that the camp, organised as a “symbolic act of saving lives” by speaker Meira Kumar, would be a
success. But that was not to be.

Of the MPs who came forward to donate blood, two, Sandeep Dikshit and Mahabal Mishra, were from Delhi.

“The only minister who turned up was V Narayanaswamy. He brought seven to eight MPs with him,” an official source said. But Narayanaswamy was declared unfit along with chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Girija Vyas.
