The Ahmedabad city crime branch will shortly file supplementary charge-sheets in 20 offences related to the Ahmedabad serial blasts that claimed dozens of lives on July 26 last year. These include the Civil and LG hospital blast cases, in which the main charge-sheets had been filed.

Senior crime branch officials said these supplementary charge-sheets will be filed within six days. The investigating agency has already filed many supplementary charge-sheets in the metropolitan court. Sources said that trial in four cases is likely to begin in October in the city sessions court.

According to reliable sources, there are at least 30 accused who have been declared absconders in the blast cases. These include accused such as Riyaz Batkal, Iqbal Batkal and Abdul Subhaan, who are key conspirators in the blasts.

DNA had earlier reported that many of the accused in blast cases, who are lodged in different jails elsewhere, would shortly be brought to the city by the crime branch.

A senior official said, "We are all set to file charge-sheets against the accused who have been brought here by us in the past few weeks. The accused include those who have been bought on transfer warrants from various jails across the country. The charge-sheets will be filed against these accused in 20 offences in connection with the blasts."

The investigating agency will file supplementary charge-sheets against at least 10 accused, it is learnt. The crime branch had brought Shaduli and Mohammed Ansar Nadvi from a Madhya Pradesh jail on a transfer warrant.

The duo, who are SIMI activists, belong to Kerala. Hafiz Hussain alias Adnan Razuddin Mullah, another accused in the blasts case and main operative of the Karnataka unit of SIMI, was also brought from Chindwada jail in Madhya Pradesh on a transfer warrant.
