Militants killed, hideouts busted

Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, a police spokesman said on Monday. The encounter took place when militants opened fire on a patrolling party of army at village Kumkadi, 90 kms from here, on Sunday evening, the spokesman said. He said the identity and group affiliation of the militants is yet to be ascertained.
   
Two AK assault rifles, an under barrel grenade launcher with three grenades, six AK magazines with 62 rounds and a mobile phone were recovered from the possession of the slain militants, the spokesman said.
   
In another incident, security forces busted two militant hideouts and recovered some arms and explosives in Rajouri and Poonch, defence sources said here on Monday.
On specific inputs, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) troops launched a search operation in General area of Tambra in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district yesterday and busted a militant hideout, they said.
    
190 grams of explosive filled in two cylindrical plastic cases was recovered in the operation though no militant could be arrested. Another hideout was busted by RR forces in Kutgali forest of Thanamandi area of Rajouri district, they said adding three
grenades, 152 rounds of AK ammunition, four magazines and a radio set was recovered.
