Mercury stays below the 40 degree mark in Delhi

The Met office said the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.7 degrees, marginally up from yesterday's 39.4 degrees, while the minimum was 24.7 degrees as against the previous day's 23.7.

The mercury today stayed below the 40 degree celsius mark in the national capital, even though the day time temperature was above normal for this time of the season.
    
The Met office said the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.7 degrees, marginally up from yesterday's 39.4 degrees, while the minimum was 24.7 degrees as against the previous day's 23.7.
    
The high, though below the 40 degree mark, was two notches above the normal while the minimum was three degrees more than the usual for this time of the year.
    
The humidity oscillated between 49 and 15% today.
    
Predicting a rise in temperature for tomorrow, the Met office has said it is expected to reach a maximum of 41 degrees while the low is likely to be around 26 degrees.
    
It said that while the skies will be mainly clear, it could be partly clouded towards the evening or night.
    
The temperature has shown a declining trend in the past few days after touching a high of 43.7 degrees last Saturday. A day later, the minimum touched a 41-year high of 30.6 degrees.
    
The all-time record for April was on the 29th day in 1941 when the mercury touched 45.6 degrees.
