Summer once again became hotter on Tuesday with a steady and gradual rise in temperature from 41 to 43 degree Celsius.

The mercury, which had lowered a bit — it was 40 degree C last week after the heat wave conditions abated — has again risen to 43, on Tuesday. The minimum temperature in the city also rose significantly to 28.

Temperatures in Ahmedabad touched 43 degree C on Tuesday and the forecast is for a steady climb in the coming days. Ahmedabad remained close to Idar - the hottest place in Gujarat where it was 43.3. The minimum temperature at both places was the same — 28 degree C.

Kamaljit Ray, director, Indian Meteorological Department, said, "The temperatures are steadily increasing due to the hot day conditions now prevailing in Gujarat. In these conditions, the minimum temperatures increase and days remain hot, sunny and humid."

The temperatures at various places including Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, Bhavnagar and Deesa also upped on Tuesday to touch 42 and above.

After the third heat wave subsided last Tuesday, the temperatures in Ahmadabad, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Deesa, Bhavnagar and Idar have started normalising. However, the trend has again changed due to hot day conditions.
