People of different religious communities in Mathura are praying for the victory of the Indian cricket team in the World Cup semi-final between India and Pakistan to be played in Mohali tomorrow.

People of different religious communities here are praying for the victory of the Indian cricket team in the World Cup semi-final between India and Pakistan to be played in Mohali tomorrow.

The atmosphere is charged with fervour as cricket lovers pay obeisance to their gods while praying for the Indian team to win.

"We are sure that due to grace of Yamuna Ji, India would win," senior member of Mathurastha Sarva Karma Panditya Samiti claimed.

Vedic hymns are being sung, 'aarti' by 108 earthen lamps is being undertaken and deities are being bathed with milk to invoke divine blessings.

Muslims are not lagging behind in this city known for communal harmony.

"Every Muslim of Mathura wants victory of Indian team. Some are praying during Namaz in different mosques," Yunus, vice-president of Shahi Maszid Idgah committee said.

"Special Namaz was held for the victory of Indian Cricket team at Mohali," Mukeem Qureshi, former leader of opposition in Municipal Board Mathura, said.
