The incident occurred at Punjab National Bank's ATM outlet located at Shapath Complex opposite Karnavati Club on Wednesday morning around 3 am.

According to the security guard, Anilsinh Chauhan, who was posted at the ATM, the incident came to his notice on Wednesday morning at 3 am.

"I had gone to the toilet and when I returned I found that some parts of the ATM machine had been opened up," said Chauhan. He said the robber had also tried to open the cash box but failed in his attempt. Chauhan immediately informed his supervisor, Jaidevsinh Parmar.

Chauhan said he also spotted a red colour Maruti car speeding away from the ATM. However, the Satellite police said the registration number of the car provided by Chauhan is that of a motorcycle.  Cash amounting to Rs3.5lakh were stored in the ATM.
