Man beaten to death in Lucknow

A man was lynched by irate villagers after he shot at two persons allegedly over a petty dispute in Banthara area, police said here today.

Ram Dulare Singh (35) was beaten to death by irate villagers while he was attempting to flee after opening fire at Shiv Kumar Rawat and his associate Shanker Rawat in Nanamau village late last night, they said.

Singh was having a dispute with Shiv Kumar over felling of trees in the area.

Last night, Singh, who was in an inebriated state, intercepted Shiv Kumar and had a spat with him and shot Rawat and Shanker, they said.

When local residents heard gunshots they chased Singh and beat him to death, police said.
