Kumar left for the US today to participate in a meeting of the Preparatory Committee of the Third World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments scheduled to be held on November 16 and 17.

UN reforms and steps to tackle the global financial crisis will be high on the agenda of a high-level meeting in New York next week in which Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar will participate.
Kumar left for the US today to participate in a meeting of the Preparatory Committee of the Third World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments scheduled to be held on November 16 and 17.
The meeting will finalise the agenda for the Third World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments organised by the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva from July 19-20 next year.
Lok Sabha secretary general PDT Achary is also attending the meeting in New York.
The IPU is the organisation of Parliaments which was established in 1889 and has 153 member Parliaments.
