LeT militant Mohd Omar Madni sent to 14 days judicial custody

Mohd Omar Madni, an alleged aide of Hafiz Saeed, founder of terror group Lashkar-e-Toiba, was today remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a Delhi court after he was produced on the expiry of his 21 day police custody.
 
Chief metropolitan magistrate Kaveri Baweja sent Madni to judicial custody till July 10 as the police did not seek his further custodial interrogation.

"The accused is produced from police custody. Heard and perused. He is remanded to judicial custody till July 10," the court said.

The police said that they were further investigating the mode of working and action plan of the terrorist outfit following the questioning of Madni.

"Letters have been written to various departments regarding Madni's visit to different countries, funding of terror outfit, e-mail details. The report of the same is awaited...," the probe agency said in its application.

"The accused will be later taken in police custody if required for the purpose of investigation," the police said, adding the probe in the case was in progress.

50-year-old Madni, a resident of Bihar who acquired Nepalese citizenship, was arrested on June four near Qutub Minar area in South Delhi.

Madni was produced before the court on June 19 on completion of 14 days police custody whose remand was further extended by seven days.
