Kobad Ghandy's aide sent to judicial custody

A Delhi court today remanded a suspected associate of top Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy, to 14 days judicial custody.

Arvind Joshi, arrested in Uttar Pradesh last month, was produced before the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate Sunil Chaudhary at the end of his 10-day police custody.

He was sent to judicial custody till April 12.

Joshi was arrested from Kanpur by Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad on February 21 and brought to the national capital on March 19.

According to police, the accused had slipped out with the hard disk of the laptop seized from the possession of Ghandy when he was arrested here on September 20 last year. 

Police claimed the accused acted as a key facilitator for Ghandy in establishing a Maoist base in Delhi and also helped him procure fake identity card and PAN card. 

On February 19, the city police had filed over 700-page chargesheet against Ghandy, accusing him of trying to set up a
network of the banned outfit here, under stringent Unlawful
Activities (Prevention) Act, besides booking him for various
offences under IPC relating to cheating, forgery and
impersonation.

Ghandy, who has been interrogated by Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Orissa police, is also under the judicial custody.
