With BJP sticking to its stand that it would head the new Jharkhand government for remainder of the term and turning down JMM's rotation formula, a group of JMM MLAs today demanded that Sibu Soren continue as chief minister.

"We want Guruji (Soren) to continue as CM as there is no need to replace him mid-way," said senior JMM MLA Simon Marandi citing his contribution towards creation of Jharkhand.

Accusing the "Delhi-based political parties" of hindering Jharkhand's development and its stability, Marandi said, "We neither want the state to run from remote control nor want Delhi's interference."

If the national parties including those which took initiative to form governments in Jharkhand were serious about the state's progress, they should break the deadlock without imposing conditions, the JMM leader said.

"I do not think imposing conditions either by JMM or BJP will serve the purpose," Marandi said.

Referring to the 50:50 rotational formula, he said it was implemented in Uttar Pradesh but failed. "There should not be any more political experiments in Jharkhand. Right now, no political party, ruling or Opposition, want a mid-term poll."

When asked whether Soren would have to get elected to state assembly by June 30 to continue as chief minister, he quipped, "Let June 30 come."

Apart from Marandi, Teklal Mahato, Nalin Soren, Bidyut Baran Mahto, Ramdas Soren, Champai Soren, Deepak Birua were present in the meeting.
