IRS officer arrested for cheating women

A senior officer of the Indian Revenue Service has been arrested for cheating multiple women.

The man used to marry these women for dowry only to abandon them later.
Pramod Kumar Bajaj, the additional director at the Direct Taxes Regional Training Institute in Lucknow, was arrested on Friday after police registered a complaint filed by one Rakhi Gupta from Ashok Vihar in Delhi on November 6. Bajaj has been sent to judicial custody.

“Bajaj has ruined the lives of many innocent girls. He used to marry them and then he would throw them out of his house,” deputy commissioner of police (northwest Delhi) NS Bundela, said. The police were trying to find out how many women Bajaj has cheated.
“Bajaj used to keep the jewellery and the money brought by his brides. He would scare the victims into silence by getting income-tax men to raid their homes. The officer also lodged false cases against them,” Bundela said.

Bajaj had contacted Rakhi Gupta through her profile on a popular matrimonial site. He changed his age and marital status and wooed her into marriage.

The two got married in December last year and Bajaj got big gifts and cash from the bride’s family. Soon after their marriage, Bajaj started demanding more dowry. He kept torturing her after that and later, when she came to know about his other wives and children, locked her up in his house  When she refused to get bogged down, he finally drove her out. Rakhi then lodged a complaint with the police against Bajaj.
