The former coach of the Men in Blue has taken his relationship with the sub-continent a step further.

After five wonderful years of mentoring the Indian cricket team, John Wright, who is also the face of the Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) of New Zealand, recently announced scholarships for Indian students.

"There is a special bond between New Zealand and India. I have always admired India's humility and spirituality. I am glad that my
association with the SIT has given me a chance to bring the two countries even closer. I want to help Indian students find their way to a good, all-encompassing education", he said.

Himself a bachelor in science, Wright views education as something to fall back upon in tough times. "If you were to ever fail with your other options, education comes to your help, and that is why it is crucial".

With these scholarships, Wright is hoping to welcome more Indian students on NZ shores, promising them a very conducive student community to integrate themselves with. "My experience with Indians has always been that they're warm and accommodating, and with SIT as a platform, I'm confident I'm offering them a deal they deserve", he said.
