Indian Mujahideen is back with new recruits and old ideas. It hasn't even changed its modus operandi for launching terror attacks in the country.

It seems those who had been on the Gujarat police's wanted list for the Ahmedabad serial blasts have managed to recruit fresh talent, this time from Uttar Pradesh.

Dr Shahnawaz and Asadullah are believed to be the key conspirators of the Varanasi blast. Shahnawaz is the brother of Saif, an accused arrested in the Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts. Saif was arrested from Batla house in Jamianagar, Delhi during an encounter.

Police sources said that Shahnawaz was present at the Batla House during the encounter but managed to escape. They believe that he went to plot the Varanasi attack. He is also believed to have recruited people from Uttar Pradesh.

Shahnawaz is a third cadre officer of the new module of Indian Mujahideen. Sources familiar with the IM module said that Abdul Subhaan Qureshi alias Tauqeer is now the brain behind the new avatar of IM. Shahnawaz reports to Tauqeer, source said.

Tauqeer, who was the second cadre officer when IM was formed and was headed by Safdar Nagori, is now the person who launches terror attacks in the country.

Sources said that Tauqeer is the key person and also happens to be in direct contact with the Batkal brothers - the founders of IM.

Police sources said that after the Ahmedabad police busted the IM module and arrested almost everyone recruited by the Batkals, both Riyaz Batkal and his brother Iqbal Batkal had bet on Tauqeer to carry forward the terror attacks in the country.

Shahnawaz and Asadullah are apparently the key aides of Tauqeer and had planned the attack on Varanasi.

"They had recruited fresh talent from different parts of the country, mainly from Azamgarh," the cop said.
