The main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said the Jammu and Kashmir government's decision to impose and later revoke ban on SMS of post-paid mobile phones was a "drama" to befool the gullible masses of the state.

"This drama was enacted by the National Conference-led coalition only just to improve its image. This regime has lost its credibility so government has been enacting such dramas to befool the people," PDP said in a statement issued here.

"Since, its formation the government has done nothing to address aspirations of the people. It seems to be more concerned about adopting tactics to divert attentions of the people towards its failure on all fronts. This drama was also a part of this tactic," the statement added.

Condemning such tactics, the PDP suggested the government to realise the ground situation and address grievances of the people seriously rather than enacting such dramas.

The entire drama was enacted with the connivance of the state government, the party alleged and said instead of taking some concrete steps to address grievances of the people, the government has been indulging in such cheap activities to befool the people.

"It is strange that chief minister on the one hand is claiming that ban was imposed without his knowledge and within minutes he said that ban has revoked due to his protest," the statement said.

The government yesterday banned SMS for post-paid subscribers in the state while restricting the facility for pre-paid users due to security concerns but within hours the Centre withdrew the ban following strong protest from the state government.
