IK Jadeja fails to keep date with riot probe panel

BJP spokesperson IK Jadeja failed to turn up before Justices (retired) GT Nanavati and Akshay Mehta riots probe commission on Monday. The former urban development minister sent a fax message on Monday morning that he would not able to appear before it as he was busy with work on panchayat polls in the state.

Meanwhile, the commission in principle, allowed Jan Sangharsh Manch, an NGO representing a few 2002 riot victims, to conduct cross-examination of Jadeja.

Justice Nanavati expressed annoyance over the reason given by Jadeja and the delay in informing the commission. Ultimately, he asked lawyers of JSM and state government to fix the date according to their convenience to conduct the cross-examination.
