Gujarat law minister Dileep Sanghani has said that he is against corruption, but he does not support the means adopted by veteran social worker Anna Hazare to press for the Jan Lokpal Bill.

"I strongly support that corruption should be eliminated, and I firmly believe that it is possible. But, the Constitution has vested the power to frame laws only with the Lok Sabha. In a democracy like ours, the Parliament cannot be pressurised to frame laws in this manner," Sanghani said, without naming Anna Hazare.

Sanghani said that the Constitution already had adequate provisions for taking action against the corrupt, irrespective of whether they were, ministers, MPs, or bureaucrats.

He, however, clarified that he was speaking as an individual and not as a minister.
