The barriers of running a hukka business, generally a male-dominated bastion, was broken long ago by Rashmi Patel, owner of a Hukka Bar and Discotheque at Himalaya Mall. Today, she has gone a step ahead by filing a molestation complaint, an act which girls rarely do. Rashmi has lodged a complaint with the Vastrapur police station against a person who reportedly molested her. In her application, she has booked one Dinesh Desai (name changed) who was tormenting her.

"Yes, I filed the complaint. I am a woman and simply doing business. But, if somebody tries to take any advantage just because I am a lone woman in a male-dominated business, then you have got to correct yourself. I am not a woman who will keep mum when somebody tries to play dirty tricks with me," Rashmi heatedly puts her point.

According to sources, the application was filed on Sunday night. Sources said that Rashmi was furious and didn't lodge an FIR as it was a precaution she took and informed the police that she was being harassed by a man.

"I just want to send the correct signal to persons with such mindsets that a single lady doing business alone is not vulnerable," Rashmi told DNA. "If I stay mum, they will be encouraged and may cross the limits next time."

Rashmi, who is also the president of Gujarat Hukka Bar Association, said that out of the 16 hukka bars, only six are operational because of many unknown reasons. 'There were some rotten eggs in the business which have been eliminated of late. At present, it's going on smoothly," she said.
