Victims and families of agents of godman Ashok Jadeja, attacked his wife Nita Jadeja when she was being produced in the court for hearing of the case on Tuesday. Nita has registered a case against nine people with the Shahpur police station in this regard.
In a dramatic turn of events, Nita was dragged by a mob of women who cornered her when she reached the court to attend the case proceedings.

The mob comprised members of the Chhara community whose money the couple had swindled, along with the families of so called agents who marketed the godman.

Two years after being cheated, with their patience and hope long gone, the victims had gathered to demand back their money from the couple. Furious with the assault, Nita finally addressed the crowd and said, "When we were distributing money, we were 'gods'. But now when we are ourselves in trouble, we have become criminals and cheaters?"

Meanwhile the families of the couple's agents also displayed their ire in the court as two years have elapsed since the Jadejas had been arrested, but the trial is yet to begin on the case. Sources from the court informed that the chargesheets of most of the cases against them had filed with the accused now waiting for the trial to begin.

However, on no date have all the accused been present in front the court, resulting in the court not being able to frame charges nor start the trial.

According to Shahpur police officials, Nita Jadeja lodged an FIR, stating that she was attacked by one Baldev Rathod along with eight other unidentified people. She stated that the assaulters asked her about the Rs6 crore and started hitting her. She said that the assaulters also broke her gold necklace and snatched Rs5,000 cash from her purse along with a cell phone.

Jadeja had presented himself as a priest of the Mata Sikotar temple and claimed to have divine powers. He had promised people to return thrice the amount of money they had entrusted him within three days.

Initially to lure more people he did return the promised amount but after a certain point he failed to repay and swindled a huge amount of cash to his credit. Jadeja's wife Nita was arrested along with several others in the case.
