After an inordinate delay, the Goa police have finally issued red corner notice against Israeli drug peddler Yaniv Benaim, who has apparently jumped bail in a drug case and has been missing since first week of August.

Crime branch sources said the red corner notice has been issued against Benaim alias Atala on September 1, almost a month after he was found to be missing.

The crime branch had said they realised about Atala going missing when he did not appear before before them when summoned for some clarification in the drug peddler-police nexus case.

The drug peddler, allegedly purchasing drugs from the state police, was arrested on March 9 this year after his former girlfriend shot his confession on spy cam and uploaded it on social networking website.

Police had issued look out notice on August 25, nearly 18 days after he was found to be missing.

Atala who was given conditional bail by Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic substances court, Mapusa on June 24 was last reported to be staying in a resort till July 4.

The drug peddler is an important link in policemen drug peddler nexus.

The state's opposition party BJP during the recent Assembly session had demanded handing over of the inquiry to the CBI.
