Girl kidnaps 6-year-old cousin to pay boyfriend's debt; 4 held

In a shocking incident, a girl kidnapped her five-year-old cousin to help her boyfriend who lost Rs11 lakh in cricket betting.

Payal, 20, her boyfriend Nishant Shetty and two others were nabbed by the police on Wednesday morning and and the young Aditya.

Payal’s family and her three uncles including Bharat Bhalchandani, father of Aditya and owner of a hotel, reside in a multi-storey bungalow in Maninagar.

On Tuesday evening, she took Aditya out on the pretext of buying medicines. Then she and her gang hid him.

Meanwhile, the boys called Aditya’s father and demanded Rs1 crore as ransom for Aditya and Payal. The family then informed the Maninagar police, who in turn informed the crime branch.

After negotiations, the gang finally agreed to accept Rs25 lakh cash and ornaments worth Rs15 lakh. On Wednesday morning, Bharat took the money to the pre-decided spot and handed over the money to two boys.

Immediately, the police, who were hiding nearby, jumped into action and nabbed the boys. Upon questioning, the duo showed the police where Payal was hiding. Subsequently, the plot came to light.

All the four youth, who are doing their graduation, had planned to kill the boy to hide their identity.
