New Delhi: After India and China discussed bilateral issues in Thailand, Congress today welcomed the talks saying it indicates that functional cooperation between the two countries would continue.
"Prime minister Manmohan Singh and Chinese premier Wen Jiabo met during ASEAN meet in Thailand. We welcome it. There has been an agreement that our functional cooperation will continue and issues, if any would be sorted out," party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told reporters here.
Ahmed said prime minister Manmohan Singh has made it clear that the Dalai Lama is a guest and a religious leader.
He said both India and China are considered the fastest growing economy of the world and functional cooperation would continue irrespective of issues like border problem, dam on the other side of the Brahmaputra and the Dalai Lama.
