Officials of State Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) raided two drug and medicine factories in Narol area on Friday. The two firms owned by a couple, Vimco Industries and Radhe Biotech, were raided by the intelligence branch of FDCA and machinery, raw material and low quality medicines worth Rs1.25 crore were seized.

In a statement issued by the commissioner of FDCA, Gujarat, HG Koshia said that the owners of the factories Shashi Shekher Sharma and his wife Vijaya Sharma were questioned by the officials. The firms do not have the drug manufacturing licence, which is to be obtained from the state government.

They used to sell their products outside Gujarat, especially in states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan illegally to escape strict action by FDCA. Koshia has also informed commissioners of others states about sale of fake drugs there.
